GRAEME JAY, PRESIDENT
Before moving to the area in 2020, I was lucky enough to experience the Midland Curling Club while participating in the local sailing club’s annual bonspiel. The architecture of the historic building, along with the Club’s authentic history, made it an easy decision to join as a full time member. I’ve belonged to clubs in Winnipeg, Port Moody BC and, more recent in Orangeville where I’ve witnessed the sport’s ability to bring communities together during the long Canadian winters. I look forward to help carry forward the amazing legacy that those before us have built and that we now enjoy.

GEOFF BARLEY, VICE PRESIDENT
JOLAYNE ADVENT, TREASURER
I am a new member of the Midland Curling Club having joined for the 2022/2023 season, however I am not new to the sport of curling. I was born and raised in a small town in Northwestern Ontario where curling was an integral activity of the community. At the age of eight I learned to curl and continued my enjoyment of competitive curling through high school and university. I am excited to be part of a curling club that has a long history of excellence and enthusiasm in the sport of curling! I ran my own chiropractic and wellness centre for twenty years, worked as an Account Manager for an Accounting firm and as the Office Manager and Controller of a large contracting business. Seven years ago, I moved to the Midland area to work for Industrial Filter Manufacturing as Business Development Manager and then as VP of Operations which included financial roles and responsibilities. I look forward to contributing my accounting and operational skills to help ensure the Midland Curling Club continues to thrive and offer its passion and collective membership curling skills to Midland and its surrounding communities.

ANDREW MENDLER, SECRETARY
I moved to Midland in the spring of 2017 to work as a reporter at the Midland Mirror newspaper. I joined the Midland Curling Club that winter in order to meet more people in the community and survive the long harsh winter months. Over the years, I have met a lot of great people at the Club, many of whom I am still friends with to this day. It is a great place to curl, have fun and enjoy drinks with friends.

SONYA HUDSON, OPERATIONS
I started curling when I first moved to Midland in 2016, and fell in love with the sport immediately. Not long after, I convened the Wednesday Women's league, then joined the Board as League Representative, and was honored to be President of the Club from 2018-2021. I call the Midland Curling Club my second home and plan to be an integral team member both on and off the ice for years to come.
KAREN LOUGHBOROUGH, ON-ICE
I moved to Midland in September 2019, but have sailed on beautiful Georgian Bay out of Midland for the past 20+ years. With friends from the sailing club, moving here from Kitchener was not a hard decision once we retired.
I started curling in a small Northern Ontario town in 1981 and was quickly bitten by the curling bug. I have curled off and on since then, at the Elmira Curling Club, where I ran the Ladies Curling League, and then the K/W Granite Curling Club, where I curled Ladies and Friday Night Social. I worked in the Dental Industry for most of my career, as administration and Office Manager. I retired in 2015 and in 2017 my husband and I sailed our boat down to The Bahamas. An adventure of a lifetime!

DONNA MCARTHUR, MARKETING
I moved to Midland in 2020 with my husband Doug and dachshund Penny. I spent over 25 years in corporate life in various marketing/communications roles…retiring as VP of Marketing with a global cosmetics company. I started curling in 2014 as a way to meet new people…and fell in love with the skill and strategy of the game. If we are not curling, then you will find us exploring The Bay on our Hatteras 53.
DAVID ARMSTRONG, FACILITIES
My wife and I have made the Midland area home for the past 10 years, after purchasing a home in Tiny.
Prior to setting up permanent residence in the area we enjoyed 5 years of homelessness, spending
summers sailing the great lakes out of Midland in our northern boat and winters sailing the throughout
Caribbean in our southern boat. My working life was spent providing service, application, installation
and commissioning support for a range of industrial systems and controls throughout the world. I have
been a member of the club for the past 6 years and greatly enjoy both the challenges of the sport and
the social aspects that the club membership provides.
